A good observer knows a lot about life and the world; and above all about himself. Krishnamurti said that the way to keep the mind quiet is when the observer becomes the observed. I have heard this many times and I heard it again last week. I remembered how much it had impacted on my youth when I read Krishnamurti’s books. Being the observer and the observed at the same time takes us into a position of empowerment and freedom. We tend to observe what is outside us, but not what is inside us. We frequently find that people unconsciously fear what they may find inside themselves.

If you haven’t already done it, dare to enter into your depths! Leave your fears to one side. You don’t need them. Leave your beliefs, wherever they come from, and people’s advice, because nobody can see better than you what you have inside. Nobody can advise you, because other people start from their own bases, not from yours, so they don’t know how to give you the answers to your questions. You are the only captain of your ship. When you go inside yourself you feel the silence, the emptiness, a strange sense of Being. You feel very well. When you get there, keep silent as you listen. Listen to yourself!

Be the observer and the observed!
