A friend asked me to write a blog about the perceptions we have of other people, and how these often lead us to judge them. It made me think of the old saying, “Everything depends on how you look at it.” There is so much wisdom in these traditional sayings!
How often have you found yourself unable to understand the behaviour of the people around you? It could be a family member, a friend, a neighbour, a colleague, someone you thought you knew well who suddenly says or does something that takes you by surprise. It doesn’t fit with the image you had of them. Before you realise it, judgement begins to play with your mind, and your thoughts are easily carried away.
Everyone reflects to us what we perceive in them. These are all our own perceptions. Everything is our own creation. It may seem impossible, doesn’t it? Yet that is how it is. If you believe someone is a bad person, you will only notice the things that confirm that belief. If you believe they are a good, you will focus on the good in them. Our perceptions can lead us to believe things that are not necessarily true. Yet, to us, they feel completely real. It is worth taking a moment to reflect on this. Our thoughts are creative. We think, we feel, and then we act. Our perceptions arise directly from our thoughts, and we project them into everything we do in life. The way we perceive the world comes from how we see life within ourselves.
We are all mirrors for one another. We see in others what we carry within ourselves, but often we do not want to acknowledge it. When you notice something in another person that you dislike, ask yourself, ” Where is that hidden within me?” Look for it, and you will find it. Heal it, and it will no longer disturb you, no matter how many times you encounter it again. The same applies when people we think we know well surprise us. Once again, look within yourself. We are all fractals of a greater whole that embraces us all. We are neither better nor worse than anyone else. We are simply who we are, doing what we chose to do before coming to this planet. Others are who they are, and they are doing what they chose to do on this journey through life. It is up to us to develop discernment and awaken to a new humanity, leaving behind everything that no longer has a place in our lives.
These days leading up to the great eclipse are an ideal time to face the darkness within us, to accept it with compassion, and to let it go with love. In doing so, we free ourselves to flow through life, guided by a pure heart that connects us all. To observe oneself from a still, visible point from which all perspectives can come together without becoming confused would be to find oneself in a state of neutrality.
I am the force of life and so are you.
