Victor Hugo once said something like: “When opportunity knocks at your door, open it, because it may not come again.”

If we were to reflect on the opportunities, we have allowed to pass us by, we would probably be surprised, especially the ones that could have deeply shaped our lives. A moment of honest reflection can help us understand the reasons why, without openly rejecting them, we still allowed those possibilities to drift away from us, even when they might have brought great benefit and meaning into our lives.

What was it, really? Arrogance? An unchecked ego? Neglected weakness? Conflicting interests? Lack of attention? Ignorance? A state of unconsciousness? The list could go on. Yet it is up to each of us to become aware of our actions, always remembering that we are co-creators of everything that unfolds in our lives. Once we truly realise this, something within us begins to change. Every thought gives rise to an emotion, and together they shape the actions that follow.

If we are creators, then we must become conscious creators, aware of what we are bringing into existence. This happens when we live from the inside out rather than from the outside in. It is much like tending a garden with care. If neglected, it soon becomes overrun with weeds, until eventually the flowers we once planted can no longer be seen. The human mind can also become like an untended garden, through negligence or ignorance. And amid such inner chaos, valuable opportunities are easily lost. By the time we recognize their worth, it may already be too late to reclaim what slipped away because we failed to value it when it appeared.

Let us always remember that within us there is a sacred space where nothing external can truly harm us, an untouched centre that sustains us through every storm. If you are not yet aware of this place within yourself, seek it quietly, and in doing so, you may finally find yourself.

I am the force of life and so are you.
