In my last post, I wrote about whether we truly know others. Those of you who reflected on it probably discovered a great deal about yourselves that had gone unnoticed. Now, I’d like to take it a step further: to invite you to know yourself more deeply.
When we look at ourselves, we tend to believe that we know who we are, that we understand what we do and what we don’t. We find reasons to justify our choices, and we hold tightly to our ideas. Yet, if we dare to look inward and set aside everything that comes from outside, we soon realise that many of our beliefs aren’t as relevant as we think they are.
True change begins when we open up with honesty and ask questions without fear, ready to accept whatever answers may come. It’s not always easy to admit that what we find doesn’t match what we believed. Nor is it easy to face the opportunities that passed us by because we remained stuck in inherited or limiting beliefs.
Humility opens doors; pride shuts them. Honesty can hurt, but it wakes us up. Difficult questions lead us to hidden paths that fear had kept us from exploring. We take a deep breath and, with courage, begin to walk them. What we find along the way helps us to understand ourselves and discover who we are. All the answers we need are held in the silence within, not in the noise of the outside world.
If you’ve made it this far, ask yourself:
Where are you? Which path are you on? For there are many.
What are your fears? Let them go, they are obstacles that hold you back.
What feelings do you have towards yourself? Knowing this is essential to choosing the right path.
Where does your self-esteem stand? Take care of it, it gives you strength.
How much do you love yourself? That answer will define who you are.
Keep searching. The answers arrive when you’re ready to receive them.
I am the strength of life and so are you.
